Danish-born restaurateur Søren Jessen, who has owned chic City stalwart 1 Lombard Street since 1998, opened Ekte Nordic Kitchen in 2018. Ekte, meaning genuine or real in Norwegian, offers a varied Nordic menu with each dish taking inspiration from the Northern hemisphere, including Smørrebrød (open sandwiches) and Frikadeller (Danish meatballs). Using only carefully sourced, sustainable ingredients, Ekte’s menus – which were created by Swedish-born Executive Chef Robin Freeman and are now overseen by Head Chef Simon Finn – celebrate everything each season has to offer using only the very best of British produce.
